Health Protection Agency HPA says more than 357,000 people have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives.

In its latest vaccination update, HPA said that up until the 28th of this month, 394,463 people have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine in the country.

HPA said that out of this,357,088 people have now received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and are fully vaccinated against the fast-spreading disease.

The Agency has set up 6 vaccination centers and 3 mobile units in the Greater Male' Area while 176 vaccination centers across the Atolls are administering the shots in the country.

Meanwhile, HPA had said last week that more than 1500 people in the country have now received the COVID-19 booster dose or the third of the vaccine.

HPA had begun administering the booster dose earlier this month and had said that it would be administering a dose of the Pfizer vaccine as the 3rd COVID dose.

HPA had set a certain category of individuals that would be eligible for the third dose of the COVID vaccine and only once it had been six months after the individual received the 2nd dose of the vaccine.

HPA said that for now only frontline health care professionals, those above 65 years and immunocompromised individuals are eligible for the booster dose.
