Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 128 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Friday.

HPA said that out of the 128 new cases, 66 were reported from the inhabited islands where HPA had been reported more and more cases each day.

The Agency also said that 35 new cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that the positivity rate from the capital city has now risen to 3 percent.

It added that another 27 cases were confirmed from the operational resorts in the country.

HPA had confirmed that a total of 87,487 of COVID-19 has now been confirmed from the Maldives since March 2020.

According to HPA data, active cases of COVID have now increased to 1,700 in the country. Meanwhile, the number of hospitalized COVID patients has again risen to 29.

More than 85,530 people have now recovered from the illness.

The global pandemic that has left devastating effects in its wake has killed 243 people in the Maldives and 12 out of those deaths have come this month.

HPA had also said that total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
