Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed another 115 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Tuesday.

HPA said that out of the new cases, 22 were reported from the Greater Male' Area while 85 new cases were confirmed from inhabited islands.

It added that 8 new cases were reported from operational resorts across the country.

The new cases take the total number of COVID cases reported in the island nation to 87,186.

HPA said that currently there are 1,553 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now dropped to 20.

It said that 85,378 people have now recovered from the illness.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 242 individuals here in the Maldives. This includes 11 individuals who had succumbed to the illness this month with the latest two deaths coming from Addu City.

HPA had also said that the total number of cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
