Police have requested the Prosecutor General's Office to charge the ex-wife of MP for Machchangoalhi Dhekunu constituency Ahmed Haitham for harassing the MP and his current wife.

The harassment was reported last June after the MP's ex-wife Najuma Moosa and her daughter Fathimath Dhifla Junaid had verbally attacked the MP and his current wife outside their home.

Police had conducted an investigation into the accident and had recommended the PGO to charge both Najuma and Dhifla for harassment. Police had forwarded its recommendation earlier this month.

It has been reported that both had verbally assaulted the MP and that Dhifla had moved to kick the MP's wife in the stomach. MP Haitham had confirmed that his wife had been pregnant with twins at the time of the verbal assault.

Police had also accused the MP's ex-wife Najuma of threatening him via social media platforms.

Following the incident, MP Haitham had said that his wife's health was affected by the incident.
