The President's Office has removed Home Ministry from the list of government ministries published on its website.

This comes after a letter addressed to the Home Minister Imran Abdullah from the President's Chief of Staff Ali Zahir was leaked to the media earlier in which the Chief of Staff states that the Police Services has now been removed from the ministry's jurisdiction.

The letter said that under the newly enacted Police Act, the Police services would not run under one particular ministry.

It also said with this, the Police services have now been removed from the ministry's jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said that the President's Office would issue a directive regarding the matter sometime today.

While the sudden omission of the Ministry from the PO website has raised questions and confusion, MP for Villimale Constituency Ahmed Usham today called on the government to clarify under which ministry the police service now falls under.
