A 3-month-old boy has succumbed to COVID-19 in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
Sources have confirmed that the baby had died while under treatment at Thinadhoo Covid Management Facility last night.
The baby is the youngest person to die from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
Health Protection Agency HPA is yet to confirm the death of the 3-month-old in Thinadhoo.
But this takes the COVID-19 death toll reported in the Maldives to 239 and COVID deaths reported from the southern island of Thinadhoo to 6.
Meanwhile, HPA reported 77 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Sunday.
HPA said that this includes 25 new cases from the Greater Male' Area, 37 from inhabited islands as well as 9 cases from operational resorts, and 6 cases from safaris.
HPA has now confirmed 86,165 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives since March 2020.
The Agency had also said that 84,627 people with 1,287 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now.
HPA added that there are 12 COVID-19 patients currently admitted at hospitals for further treatment.
