India has beaten Nepal 3-0 in the final match of the SAFF Championship 2021 to lift the trophy for the 8th time.

India dictated the play in the match played under pouring rain with first-time finalist Nepal opting for a defensive game. Nepal managed to hold off India till halftime but conceded shortly after the restart.

Captain Sunil Chhetri scored in the 49th minute to take his tournament tally to 5 goals.

On the 50th minute, Indian player Suresh Singh Wangjam scored to make the score 2-0.

Nepal did create some chances in the match but ended up with just one shot on target. India wrapped up the match on the 91st with a goal from Sahal Abdul Samad.

The win tonight ensures that India secured its eighth SAFF trophy without losing a match while Nepal was only beaten by India in the tournament.
