Health Protection Agency HPA has reported another 45 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Friday.

HPA said that out of the 45, 14 new cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that 27 new cases were confirmed from inhabited islands.

The Agency further said that 4 new cases were confirmed operational resorts in the country.

The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 85,977

HPA had confirmed that 84,519 people have recovered from the illness and that there are 1,208 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now.

The Agency also reported that 16 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment in the country.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 237 people in the Maldives since April 2020 with 5 COVID deaths reported so far this month as well.

HPA had also said that the total number of cases includes 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
