Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 83 new cases of COVID-19 from the Maldives on Sunday

HPA said that out of the 83 new cases 54 were reported from inhabited islands and that another 23 new cases were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area.

The Agency added that an additional 6 cases of COVID-19 were reported from operational resorts.

The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives to a staggering 85,548

HPA said that 84,064 people have recovered from the illness in the Maldives and that there are still 1,237 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

HPA added that 13 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment in the country.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 234 people in the Maldives with three pandemic deaths reported this month.

HPA had also said that the total number of cases includes 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19.
