Lanka played a defensive for most of the first half and the first half finished with the Maldives leading 1-0.

But the Maldives put on a strong display early in the second half and came close to adding to their goal tally on several occasions.

Lanka got stronger as the match went on and they created several chances themselves.

The Maldives defended heroically on several occasions and home keeper Mohamed Shafeeu made impressive saves.

The hosts held onto win the match 1-0 and moved to 2nd place in the table after securing 6 points in three matches although they are level on point with Nepal.

Nepal remains at the top of the table with 2 wins from two matches and can extend their lead at the table to three points if they beat India tonight.
