Protests have broken out at the National Stadium in Male' after the Football Association of the Maldives announced that the tickets for tomorrow's SAFF Championship clash between the Maldives and Sri Lanka have sold out.
Many had queued up outside the stadium to wait in line for tickets to the national team's third match of the ongoing tournament and reports say the ticket counter had claimed that it had all been sold out minutes after it went on sale.
While some had lined up outside for hours, many expressed outrage over the sudden sellout and are demanding the resignation of the top officials at FAM.
Unconfirmed reports have said that the ticket counters have only sold 200 tickets before shutting down amid claims of a sellout.
Many gathered in the area are concerned as officials have yet to announce when tickets would go back on sale or if the tickets would go back sale again.
The Football Association of the Maldives FAM is yet to comment on the matter.
The SAFF Championship 2021 is the first regional tournament the Maldives is hosting on its own and tickets for both the matches which the Red Snappers had played have all sold out way before matchday.
