India has once again failed to win at the SAFF Championship 2021 as the regional powerhouse drew 0-0 with Sri Lanka today.
India drew 1-1 with Bangladesh in its opening match and failed to break down a resolute Lankan defense at the National Stadium today.
While India had most of the ball and made 11 shots on goal only one shot was on target. But the Indian team was also awarded 12 corners in the match but failed to make any count as the Lankan defense held on.
Lanka themselves have only one shot in the whole match and that too didn't trouble the Indian goalkeeper.
The match ended in a 0-0 stalemate with both sides sharing a point from the contest.
The result means Lanka would not able to lift the championship as they had only taken 1 point from three matches and only one match remains for the Lankan team which is against host Maldives.
The point today, places India in trouble as well as India must now win the remaining two matches and hope the other teams drop points in their matches.
