Police say two men who were arrested for allegedly attacking MP for Kaashidhoo Constitieuncy Abdullah Jabir have been released from police custody.
MP Jabir was attacked by a mob of youth on his visit to Alifu Alifu Atoll Mathiveri on 21st September and police had arrested the two men on the 23rd of last month.
Police had arrested a 42-year-old man and a 19-year-old man from Mathiveri following the attack against Jabir and that they were arrested under a court order.
The pair had been remanded in police custody for seven days and after the completion of the remand period both the men have now been released.
Speaking to "The Press", a media official from Police said that the men were released after Police had collected all the relevant information regarding the incident.
MP Jabir met with a hostile crowd from the island upon his visit to Mathiveri last month.
Reports have said that many on the island were angry about a land plot leased to MP Jabir for 50 years under the authority of former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed.
