Former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has made strong accusations against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih saying that the head of the country had been also involved in the MMPRC scandal.

Speaking at a news conference that lasted 3 hours last night after being released from custody in the UK, the disgraced ex-minister said that one of the five people at the helm of Maldives Democratic Party MDP had come to Rehendi flat to claim MVR 35 million from the MMPRC scandal.

Ali Waheed went on to say that this person was President Solih and that he had been the leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group back then during former President Abdullah Yameen's tenure.

He also said that the money was handed over to the President by the former Vice President and one of the masterminds behind the MMPRC scandal Ahmed Adeeb.

The Ex-Minister added that the Police would have CCTV footage of the President carrying the black bag containing the money from the exchange site.

Through the virtual news conference, Ali Waheed made several accusations against the members of the current government including high-level targets like the President, the Prosecutor General, and the Attorney General.

Ali Waheed who was fired from his post after several female staff from the Tourism Ministry made sexual harassment accusations against him also said that the charges against him are politically motivated.
