Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 92 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives on Wednesday
HPA said that out of the 106 new cases, 51 were reported from the inhabited islands while 38 others were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA also said that 3 new COVID cases were confirmed from operational resorts in the country.
The Agency had further said that out of the 5,526 samples tested for the illness in the last 24 hours, 2387 samples were from the Greater Male' Area.
The Agency had said that with the new cases the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has now reached 83,162.
HPA informed that while 81,090 have recovered from the illness in the country, there are 1,832 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now.
It said that 21 COVID-19 patients remained admitted to hospital settings for further treatment.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has taken the lives of 227 individuals in the Maldives and authorities had confirmed that many of those who succumbed to the illness were elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
Officials have also said that the total number of cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19
