Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed additional 120 new cases of COVID-19 in the country as the total number of COVID-19 cases soared past 82,000 in the Maldives on Monday.
The Agency said that out of the 120 new cases confirmed yesterday, 30 were from the Greater Male' Area and that 70 other cases were reported from the inhabited islands. HPA also confirmed 20 new cases from operational resorts across the country.
HPA had said that the total number of COVID-19 has now reached 82,099 in the country and that 79,795 have recovered from the illness.
The Agency informed that there are currently 2,064 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 20 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The global pandemic has killed 227 people in the Maldives with the latest COVID death coming yesterday.
HPA had said that an 80-year-old local man admitted at Hulhumale Medical Facility had succumbed to the illness yesterday around 03:35 pm.
The Agency had also said that the total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
