Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 105 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Tuesday.

HPA said yesterday that 22 new cases were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area while 68 new cases were confirmed from the inhabited islands and that 15 new cases were reported from operational resorts.

The Agency said that these new cases have taken the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 76,953 in the Maldives. HPA said that there are 2,611 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 16 COVID patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

A total of 74,110 people have recovered from the fast-spreading illness in the Maldives.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 220 people in the Maldives since April 2020 with the latest COVID death coming yesterday after a 66-year-old local man succumbed to the illness while under treatment at Dhuvaafaru Health Center.

HPA had also said total cases of COVID-19 include 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
