Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has now moved past 75,000.

HPA said last night that another 91 cases were confirmed on Monday and that this includes 23 new cases from the Greater Male' Area, 61 cases from inhabited islands, and 7 from operational resorts.

The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded since March 2020 to 75,162.

The Agency reported that there are still 2,497 active cases of the pandemic here in the Maldives and that 72,439 people have now recovered from the illness in the county.

HPA said that the number of COVID patients currently hospitalized for further treatment has now fallen to 15.

The global pandemic has killed 214 people in the Maldives with three COVID-19 deaths reported this month.

Last month, HPA reported 50 COVID-19 deaths in the country while it had reported 88 COVID deaths in the month of May.

HPA had also said that total cases include 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
