Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 105 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Tuesday as the number of daily cases continues to fall across the country.

The Agency said via Twitter that out of the new cases, 23 cases were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area while 74 cases were reported from inhabited islands. HPA also confirmed 7 cases from operational resorts and 1 from an industrial island.

The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country since March 2020 to 74,585.

HPA has said that there are 3,148 active cases of COVID-19 still in the country with 71,212 recoveries. A total of 25 COVID-19 patients remains hospitalized for further treatment.

The global pandemic has killed 213 in the Maldives since April 2020 and most of these deaths came in May 2021 in which 88 people succumbed to the fast-spreading disease.

HPA also said that the total number of cases include 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19
