Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed an additional 138 new cases in the country on Wednesday as the number of daily cases continues to drop across the country.
The Agency said that out of the 138 new cases, 105 were from the inhabited islands and that 13 were from industrial or islands used for other purposes while 7 new cases were confirmed from operational resorts.
HPA also reported just 13 new cases from the Greater Male' Area where the daily cases had been in the 1000s at the beginning of last month.
The Agency said that the new cases have taken the total number of COVID-19 cases to 73,798 with 69,974 recoveries.
HPA confirmed that there are still 3,602 active cases of the pandemic here in the Maldives while 28 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The major drop in cases has prompted authorities to ease the restrictive measures taken against the pandemic, especially in the Greater Male' Area.
Starting today, the curfew currently in place would be implemented from 08:00 pm to 04:00 am and authorities had allowed residents to go out during non-curfew hours without a permit.
Also, mosques had started to hold congregational prayers since early morning prayers and restaurants would be allowed to have dine-in customers during non-curfew hours.
