Health Protection Agency HPA says effective from 7th July, locals and work-permit holders traveling from South Asia have to quarantine after they arrive back in the country.

The Agency said that such travelers must also do a PCR test 48-72 hours after they arrive, while in quarantine.

HPA said that while locals can quarantine at their homes, work permit holders will be quarantined at designated facilities.

HPA also said that these travelers must remain under quarantine for 14 days and that they would only be released from quarantine once they test negative for the COVID test once their quarantine is completed.

Meanwhile, HPA said that tourists traveling from South Asian countries will be issued on-arrival visas starting from 15th July.

This was also confirmed by the tourism Ministry who said that the Maldives will restart issuing on-arrival tourist visas starting 15th July to tourists traveling from South Asia.

The Ministry said that tourists need a negative PCR result to enter the Maldives and that it would reveal further details will follow accordingly.
