President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says the curfew currently in place in the Greater Male' Area would begin from 08:00 pm and would last till 04:00 am starting next month.
Speaking at a news conference held at the President's Office today, President Solih said that as the number of daily cases being reported in the country and especially in the Greater Male' Area had declined significantly, the government upon the recommendation of its health advisors had decided to grant eases.
He clarified that with the reduced curfew hours, Male' Area residents are not required to acquire a police-issued pass to go out during non-curfew hours.
President Solih said that all businesses would be allowed to start operations and that restaurants and cafes can offer dine-in services during non-curfew hours.
The President also mosques in the area would also be allowed to hold congregational prayers with social distancing practices.
He said that all these measures would go into effect on the 1st of July.
The ease in the measures was announced as the Health Protection Agency confirmed just 182 new cases in the Greater Male' Area in the past five days.
