Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that a total of 197 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives since' vv''April 2020.
HPA had confirmed that earlier today at 04:47 am an 83-year-old local man admitted at Hulhumale Medical Facility HMF had passed away.
The Agency had also reported another COVID-19 death at the facility yesterday as a 63-year-old woman admitted there had died from the COVID-19 disease at 10:00 pm last night.
HPA had also confirmed a COVID-19 death from the COVID-19 facility in Laamu Atoll as a 92-year-old man admitted there had succumbed to the illness.
Yesterday, the Maldives recorded its first maternal death related to COVID-19 after a young mother of 25 had died from disease while under treatment at Dharumavantha hospital.
HPA had said that the young mother from Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo was being treated for COVID-19 and had been on the ventilator for 15 days.
The doctors treating her had performed a lower segment cesarean section to take the baby out and HPA had said that the baby is being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
