Health Protection Agency HPA of the Maldives has confirmed 182 COVID-19 deaths in the country as the island nation looks to bounce back from a devastating wave of the pandemic.
HPA had confirmed 5 new COVID deaths in the country today and that all of them had been local women. HPA also reported that 4 of the death came from the Hulhumale Medical facility.
The Agency reported that a 72-year-old local woman under treatment at the facility had succumbed to the illness at 11:34 pm last night while at 12:42 am a 64-year-old Maldivian woman had also passed away at the treatment.
HPA had said that 10 minutes later at 12:52 am, a 79-year-old woman had also been declared dead while under treatment at the facility.
The fourth individual to die at the facility had been a 68-year-old local woman at 07:17 am today.
Meanwhile, HPA confirmed today that a 28-year-old woman under treatment at DH11 of Dharumavantha hospital had also succumbed to the pandemic today at 04:19 am.
Sources have confirmed that the woman had been brought in from Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo after her condition had deteriorated after contracting COVID-19.
HPA had reported 21 COVID deaths in the first five days of this month while it had confirmed 88 COVID-19 deaths last month, the most devastating month in the fight against the pandemic since it hit the country last year.
