Health Protection Protection Agency HPA has confirmed another four COVID-19 deaths in the Maldives today.

The Agency reported one COVID-19 death from Baa Atoll Covid Management Facility where an 87-year-old local man passed away at 04:40 am earlier today.

HPA also confirmed three COVID-19 deaths from Hulhumale' Medical Facility on Tuesday.

It said that a 70-year-old local man, a 50-year-old Maldivian man, and a 59-year-old local woman admitted at the facility succumbed to the pandemic today.

This takes the death toll in the country to a staggering 165 and these are the first COVID-19 deaths reported this month. Last month HPA had confirmed 88 COVID-19 deaths, making it the highest month with fatalities since the pandemic reached the country's shores last year.

Health Protection Agency reported another 710 new cases of COVID-19 in the country yesterday and said that this includes 488 new cases from the Greater Male' Area and 202 new cases from inhabited islands.

This takes the total COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 64,396 with 40,117 recoveries now confirmed in the Maldives.

HPA said there are currently 24,109 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 204 COVID patients remain hospitalized for further treatment.
