Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed another 2 COVID-19 deaths in the country today.

This comes after the agency reported a staggering 13 COVID-19 deaths yesterday in the Maldives, making it the day with the highest pandemic death toll since the illness reached the country's shores last year.

Today HPA said that last night at 01:01 am a 66-year-old Maldivian man admitted at HMF has passed away. HPA said that this is the 143rd COVID-19 death in the Maldives.

The Agency confirmed another death at the Hulhumale Medical facility and said that today morning at 07:40 am an 89-year-old local man admitted at the facility had succumbed to the illness.

HPA confirmed that this is the 144th COVID-19 death in the Maldives.

The Agency had also reported 71 COVID-19 deaths this month alone, making it by far the deadliest month since the pandemic was first discovered in the Maldives.
