Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says shops, restaurants, and cafes that provide services other than delivery during the curfew hours would be given an MVR 5000 fine.

Speaking at the latest news briefing by the Health Emergency Operations Center HEO, Mabrook said that businesses would not be allowed to let customers into their shops or restaurants during the curfew hours.

He had said that authorities would extend the curfew hours from 04:00 pm to 08:00 am starting Wednesday.

Mabrook said that businesses can make deliveries between 06:00 am to 12:00 am and that existing business and delivery permits would not be canceled.

Health Protection Agency HPA confirmed via Twitter that dine-ins are still not allowed in cafes and restaurants and that such establishments are only open for takeaways and deliveries.

The new measures announced to control the rampant COVID-19 pandemic state that the Greater Male' Area would be halved into two zones and that one zone includes Male' and Villimale while Hulhumale stands alone as one whole zone.

Authorities have banned travel between the zones and have said that only two residents from each household would be allowed to go out during non-curfew hours.
