Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed three more COVID-19 death in the Maldives today as the pandemic situation continues to worsen across the country.
HPA said via Twitter today that last night at 11:53 pm, a 63-year-old local woman admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor, DH11 had passed away. The Agency said that she was the 92nd person to die from COVID-19 in the country.
HPA confirmed two more COVID-19 deaths in the country in the span of a few hours. The Agency said that late last year at 01: 39 am an 87-year-old local man admitted at Hulhumale Medical facility had succumbed to the illness.
HPA reported the latest COVID-19 death from Haa Alifu Dhidhoo. HPA said that today morning an-83-year old local woman brought to Haa Alifu Dhihdhoo Atoll Hospital was declared dead at 08: 45 am.
The last two deaths take the total death toll reported in the Maldives to 94. HPA had reported more than 20 COVID-19 deaths in this month alone.
The pandemic situation remains dire in the country with HPA confirming another 1,467 new cases across the country yesterday.
HPA had said that out of the 1,467 cases being reported on Friday, 939 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6 pm of 13th May and 6 pm of 14th May.
