Authorities say Haa Alifu Hoarafushi has sustained damages amid the bad weather currently affecting parts of the country.

Police on the northern island said that tidal flooding and other damages have been reported on the island. Police said its officers currently on Hoarafushi are actively working to relieve rain-affected incidents.

Local media confirmed that the newly built airport on the island had sustained significant damages amid strong winds and bad weather.

National Disaster Management Agency NDMA had tweeted saying that swell waves had been reported in several islands in the north. NDMA said that this includes 5 other islands from Haa Alifu atoll, Shaviyani Milandhoo, Shaviyani Funadhoo, and Shaviyani Komandhoo.

Meanwhile, security forces in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Kulhudhfushi reroof a thrown-off rooftop due to strong winds and continue efforts to relieve damages to several households.
