Home Minister Imran Abdullah says he is happy with the progress of the investigation into the attack that targeted the speaker of the parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed last Thursday.

In a tweet, Imran said that he is content with the findings of the investigation so far. Minister said that the progress of the investigation was down to the skillful work from a number of police officers and the tips provided by the public.

Police had today confirmed that they had apprehended the prime suspect of the attack against the former President and reports have confirmed that the man was arrested from Hulhumale'.

Police on Saturday arrested two individuals from Male' in relation to the terrorist attack and released their information to the public as well. The two suspects previously arrested include 21-year-old Mujaaz Ahmed and 32-year-old Thahumeen Ahmed.

Speaker Nasheed and 5 others were injured in Thursday night's blast which security officials had confirmed were caused by an IED detonated by remote control or device.

Police had said that the suspect taken under custody today might have denoted the device near the vicinity of the attack.

Yesterday Nasheed's medical team at ADK hospital said that in the attack steel balls and other shrapnels were found lodged in his body and that CT scans revealed internal injuries and bleeding.

The former President is now stable and on the road to recovery.
