The President's Office has confirmed that Fisheries Minister Zaha Waheed had resigned from her post.
This comes amid speculation that the President had sacked Zaha earlier this week.
In a statement, the President's Office said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Wednesday accepted the resignation of Zaha Waheed from the post of Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture.
The statement also said that President Solih expressed gratitude for the valuable services she rendered in the Cabinet and wished her well in future endeavors.
Zaha's resignation was revealed after Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez had confirmed that former Environment Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hussain had today been appointed as Minister for Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture.
Mabrook also confirmed that former Policy Secretary at the President's Office Aminath Shauna had now been appointed as the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology.
This comes after the President moved to dissolve the Ministry of Communication, Science, and Technology.
Zaha had endured a tumultuous few weeks after the opposition called for a motion of no-confidence against the Minister amid claims that she had failed in her duty as the fisheries minister.
