The Government has announced its reshuffles today with new appointments at two Ministries.
Presidential spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez confirmed via Twitter and said that President decided to bring the following changes to improve the government's services achieve its pledges.
Mabrook said that that former Environment Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hussain had today been appointed as Minister for Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture.
Mabrook also confirmed that former Policy Secretary at the President's Office Aminath Shauna had now been appointed as the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology. This comes after the President moved to dissolve the Ministry of Communication, Science, and Technology.
Shauna completed her BA in Political Science, Environmental Science, and Economics from the Westminister College in Missouri, USA. She was appointed as Policy Secretary at the President's Office in November 2018.
Minister Shauna had also served as an aide to former President Mohamed Nasheed from July 2012-November 2018.
Meanwhile, the Presidential spokesperson also announced the appointment of Ahmed Hamdan as the new Policy Secretary at the President's Office.
Hamdan had completed his Masters in Arts (Democracy and Elections) with distinction at the University of Manchester in the UK in 2017 after completing his bachelor's degree of Arts (Policy Studies) at the Australian National University.
He had previously served at the British High Commission as a Political Officer from September 2017 to January 2018.
Additionally, the President also moved the National Drug Agency under the Health Ministry amid calls for reform at the agency.
