Former President Abdullah Yameen, who is currently jailed on a money-laundering charge, has been brought to Male' today for questioning regarding the MMPRC scandal.
A police media official had confirmed this to "The Press".
Meanwhile, the media official from Maldives Correctional Services Ahmed Naseem said to "The Press" that the ex-President was brought to Male' earlier this morning and that his presence was required by the Police.
The former President had been brought to Male' on the 14th of this month as well as authorities confirmed that he was brought in for his COVID vaccination.
Authorities also said that Yameen had refused to get the vaccine and was subsequently transferred back to Maafushi jail, where he is completing a five-year prison sentence for his part in the MMPRC scandal.
Later on, his lawyers had denied the government's claim and said that the ex-President had not refused to get his COVID shot
