The President's Office has confirmed that First Lady Fazna Ahmed had tested positive for COVID-19.
It said that following the positive result, the First Lady has self-isolated herself and remains in good health.
The President's office had also said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, their son, and daughter were tested for COVID-19 and that their results came back negative for the illness.
Earlier today, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed had confirmed that he too had tested positive for COVID-19.
He said via Twitter that he was attending the first meeting of the newly established Police Board virtually as he was under home isolation having tested positive for COVID-19.
Several media reports have said that the Commissioner's wife had also tested positive for the fast-spreading disease.
