Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed confirms that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and that he is currently under home isolation.

In a tweet, the CP said that he had taken part in the first Police Board meeting virtually and that it was because he was in home isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

Hameed went on to say that he welcomed all 7 members on the Board with the assurance that the Maldives Police Services will see it as the ‘Critical Partner’ to make policing more effective and the organization more accountable.

The Home Ministry said via Twitter that Home Minister Imran Abdullah had also joined the meeting with the newly established Police Board today.

Earlier this month, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had constituted the Police Board, as per section 75(a) of the recently enacted Police Service Act (Law No. 34/2020).

The following members were appointed to the board on Friday, April 9, 2021.
