Foreign Ministry says Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid will depart to India tomorrow for a brief trip to the country that is set to run from 15th to 16th April.

The Ministry said that during the visit, Minister Shahid will meet his counterpart Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. Jaishankar, and discuss bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

It also said that the purpose of the visit is to review progress on bilateral cooperation and discuss the implementation of key developmental projects under the Indian Lines of Credit extended to the Maldives.

In a statement, the Indian High Commission confirmed Minister Shahid's trip and added that the Minister will participate in the ongoing Raisna Dialogue in a virtual mode in sessions on ' Financing for Sun', and 'Global Public Health after the Pandemic'.

The statement also said that the Maldives is India's key maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean region and occupies a central and Special place in the Prime Minister's vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region, SAGAR.

It added that Foreign Minister Shahid's visit is expected to lend further momentum to the close bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
