Faisal Naseem has cast his vote in the ongoing Local Council and Women’s Development Committees (WDC) Election 2020.

The Vice President cast his ballot at a polling station situated in the Maafannu Stadium in Malé for the Fuvahmulah constituents.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Vice President Faisal said that every individual is free to cast their vote to the candidate of their choice.

He said that there are many that share many political views and that no individual should be cast aside because of his or her view.

In a tweet, the VP said that the country is on course towards a complete decentralized system of governance. He said that all citizens must partake in the development of the island and that the citizens must choose a representative that would voice their concerns at the local councils.

Meanwhile, earlier President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had cast his vote in the elections and several government Ministers have also cast their votes in the polls.

This includes Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid, Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi, and Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali.

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed had also voted in the polls today.
