Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 972 active cases of COVID-19 in the Atolls as the spread of the illness keeps on growing in the islands.
HPA reported that there are active cases of COVID-19 in 72 islands across the island and that this includes 710 Maldivians and 262 foreigners.
HPA also said that there 260 active cases of the pandemic in industrial island of Felivaru of Lhaviyani Atoll and another 215 in Naifaru of the same atoll.
The Agency confirmed that there are 10 islands currently under monitoring after it had lifted Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo and Dhaalu Meedhoo from monitoring today.
HPA said that it had removed these islands from monitoring after all random samples tested negative for COVID-19 but that it would continue taking further random samples from the islands.
It had also confirmed that 6 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized in the COVID facilities established in the islands. HPA said that this includes 2 in Shaviyani Atoll facility and another 4 being treated at the Baa atoll COVID facility.
HPA had reported 138 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives yesterday. This includes 84 from the Greater Male' Area and 44 from inhabited islands.
This takes the total number of cases reported in the country to a staggering 25,191.
