The police force has mobilized for the upcoming local council and women's development elections as authorities gear up for the polls.
Police said that its officers have started their travels to the Atolls to offer extra security during the voting day of the much-delayed elections and some have departed with the ballot papers earlier this morning.
Police said it had sent officers to islands in the Haa Alifu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, Baa, and Lhaviyani.
It also said officers traveling to other parts of the country would depart by the 8th of this month.
Police said its officers had acquired negative PCR tests prior to departure and that they had taken all the necessary permits before their travels.
The Force had decided to mobilize their officers in all the islands with police stations and those the elections Commission would place a ballot box.
While the police have mobilized to offer extra security during Saturday's election, police officers are on hand to travel to the islands if more are needed in any situation.
The Police force has been preparing for the polls and had already designated an operations commander and deputy commander to oversee the security on elections day.
