Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 132 new cases of COVID-19 in the country as the total positives surged past 24,700 in the Maldives.
In its daily COVID update via Twitter, HPA said that 132 samples out of 3,049 tested had been positive for COVID-19. It said that this includes 67 cases from the Greater Male' Area as well 45 from the islands.
HPA listed that 19 cases were confirmed from operational resorts and that 1 case was reported from an industrial island.
These new cases take the total positive cases to a staggering 24,783.
HPA said on Sunday that 21,646 people have recovered from the illness and that currently, 3,061 remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
It also said that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has now dropped from 94 to 83 in the last 24 hours.
The devastating pandemic has killed 67 people in the Maldives and this includes 60 locals and 7 foreigners. Last month five people had succumbed to the pandemic here in the Maldives while in February 10 people lost the battles against the fast-spreading pandemic.
HPA had also reported that the confirmed cases include 9 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19
