The US Army has reaffirmed its commitment to the Maldives National Defense Force MNDF.
The US Army concreted this statement in a special memento it had presented to the Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal by the visiting Deputy Commander of the US Army Pacific, Major General Daniel F McDaniel.
The impressive-looking memento lauded the vision and leadership of Major General Shamaal. It also said that the US army stands alongside the Maldives National Defense Force MNDF.
MNDF said that under the Defense Framework Agreement signed by the two countries in 2019, the US had been offering its military expertise and equipment to MNDF as well as its operation in the areas under MNDF command.
MNDF also noted that in the last two years the defense cooperation between the two countries had been further enhanced.
It highlighted several trips made by high-level defense officials from the US while also noted the country's continued assistance during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
