Maldives Meteorological Services MET Office has issued a yellow alert for major parts of the country amid worsening weather in the Island nation.
The Met Office said that it had issued a yellow alert from Haa Alifu Atoll to Laamu Atoll.
It said that the alert for these areas is from 03:00 pm to 05:00 pm today.
The Met Office also said that moderate thunderstorms and torrential rain is expected in the area covered by the alert.
Generally, authorities call for caution during such bouts of bad weather with seafarers urged to be wary of sea conditions.
