Health Protection Agency HPA has extended the measures taken against cafes and restaurants operating in the Greater Male' Area for another 7 days.

HPA said in an announcement that for the next 7 days, cafes and restaurants operating in the Greater Male' Area of Male', Villimale, and Hulhumale' must close for dine-in customers at 08:00 pm every night.

HPA also said that such establishments would be allowed to do takeaways and deliveries till 10:30 pm.

It also said that all must be wearing facemasks inside the premises except during eating.

This comes after HPA extended the curfew imposed in the Greater Male Region for another 7 days as COVID-19 cases reported in the area remained high despite the measures.

It also said that cinemas and film theaters must continue to stop operations for the next week while it also banned the use of running tracks for the next seven days.

HPA noted that parks and other public places would be closed for the next week while universities and colleges must not hold physical classes for their students for another week.

HPA also disallowed group sports and exercise activities for the next 7 days.

HPA also said that the vehicular ban currently in the Greater Male' Area would remain in place until further notice.
