The Elections Commission EC is seeking officials to work at voting centers during the upcoming council elections and women's development committee elections.
The commission had said that the application forms for voting officials would be available from the city/island/ atoll council offices as well via the commission's website.
It had said that those interested must submit the application forms along with the required documents as well as a passport size photo no older than three months via email.
It also said that those who have been selected as officials need not re-submit their applications.
Criteria for election officials are;
- Must be 18 years of age and above
- Must not hold a top position at any political party
- Must not have taken part in the campaign of any candidate
- Must not be the father, mother, daughter/son, spouse, or sibling of a candidate from the same constituency
- Must have the educational qualifications and expertise to work as an official
- Must be healthy to fulfill the duties of an election official
- Must not be serving a sentence for a criminal offense
Elections Commission said officials would be paid accordingly as per their duties on election day;
- Head of the Voting Center- MVR 1800
- Deputy head of the voting Center- MVR 1600
- Official at the voting center- MVR 1500
- Vote counting official- MVR 1200
- Reserve official-MVR 500
- Que supervisor- MVR 1000
- Official- MVR 1000
The Commission also said that it would be arranging meals for the officials on voting day. It also said that those selected as officials must complete a specific training and that each participant would be given MVR 300 as an allowance.
It added that if the applicants fail to take part in the trainings held this March, they cannot act as officials during the elections.
