Home Minister Imran Abdullah says authorities would always welcome peaceful political activities amid the on-going series of protests organized by the opposition coalition.
Minister Imran said that the door is always open to hold peaceful political activities and that such activities would benefit the public.
He said that the authorities would always act in a way that would allow such peaceful activities.
This comes after police had broken up protests organized by the opposition coalition in Male' yesterday.
Police had arrested some key figures even before the rally had begun and had barred entry into the office of the main opposition party PPM.
In total police had arrested 30 people from yesterday's rally including the acting leader of the opposition coalition and former MP Abdul Raheem Abdullah along with MP for Guraidhoo constituency Ghassan Maumoon.
Today, Police had announced that it had released all 30 but had fined 27 individuals for disobeying Health Protection Agency HPA guidelines set in place to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
