Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and his wife have received their COVID-19 vaccination today.
The former President had confirmed this on Twitter after sharing pictures of him and his wife getting vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic today.
The ex-President said that he and the former first Lady Nasreena Ibrahim had received the vaccine at the military hospital Senahiya today.
With this, all former Presidents except for former President Abdullah Yameen, who is currently counting a jail sentence, have now received the first shots of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Also, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Ibrahim Faisal, and several cabinet ministers have now received the first shots of the COVID vaccine.
Health Protection Agency HPA had said yesterday that a total of 16,251 people have now been vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Maldives since the inoculation program kicked-off earlier this month.
HPA had said that this includes 13,418 from the Greater Male' Area and 2,833 from the atolls.
