Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says today, an Air India plane will land in Male’ with 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine today - a gift from India.
In a tweet, the media-savvy former President Nasheed said that During the tsunami, the ‘88 coup, the water crisis the COVID-19 pandemic, India has always been our first responder and dependable friend.
Nasheed also said that today's vaccination delivery would mark the beginning of the end of the terrible virus, which has now infected 14,633 people in the Maldives and killed 49 individuals since last April.
Authorities in the Maldives had begun the registration for the much-awaited COVID-19 vaccination last Sunday with the highest priority given to Healthcare professionals.
