Maldives National Defense Force MNDF has reported a fire incident at Veligandu Island resort as such incidents from the resorts have been growing in numbers.
MNDF said that the report of the fire at the resort came in around 2:15 p.m. and that the fire had occurred at a guest room on the resort.
It also said that resort staff had extinguished the fire in the room but MNDF Fire and Rescue were on their way to the resort.
The guestroom had sustained considerable damage with most of the electric appliances in the room
This is the fourth fire incident reported at a tourist establishment this month as the country tries to bounce back on its feet after an economically devastating year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
