Health Protection Agency HPA says that it has recorded 301,481 COVID-19 samples since the pandemic hit the country and that 13,583 of those samples have tested positive for the illness.
On Friday, HPA said via tweeter that 2183 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and that 25 of the samples came back positive for COVID-19.
It said that the positive cases include 21 new cases confirmed from the Greater Male' Area and 4 new cases reported from inhabited islands.
HPA also said on Friday that 15 people have recovered from the illness yesterday and that the total number of recoveries has now hit 13,026.
HPA noted that there are 502 active cases of COVID-19 in the country at the moment with 36 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized for further treatment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 48 lives here in the Maldives including 41 locals and 8 foreigners.
HPA has also said that the confirmed cases include 7 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
