Health Protection Agency has confirmed 23 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives today a day after the daily numbers fell to a single-digit.

In a tweet, HPA said that out of the 23 new cases 14 were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that it had confirmed 2 cases from inhabited islands while 7 were reported from operational resorts.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 reported in the Maldives has now reached 13,524

HPA also said that another 31 people have recovered from the illness on Tuesday and that a total of 12,960 individuals have now recovered from the pandemic here in the Maldives.

HPA noted that the number of active cases of COVID-19 has now dropped from 517 to 509. HPA added that 41 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The Agency had said that 48 people have succumbed to the illness here in the Maldives and that this includes 41 locals and 7 foreigners.

HPA had also said that the number of confirmed cases include 7 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
